Beacon Rock State Park features a 1.8 mile round trip hike up a huge rock with 52 switchbacks with guard rails all around. As a person with a slight fear of heights, this was not that scary or difficult. When the sun is out you can see some great views of the Columbia River but you’ll just have to religiously apply sunscreen as there is barely any shade. The rock is actually basalt plug (part of a volcano) and was actually supposed to be destroyed but it was saved and turned into a park for all to enjoy.
