Brushy Peak Regional Preserve is a great hike in Livermore which has easy to follow loop trails and no shade. If you want an easy to moderate hiking experience with less people, the best time to come is when its cool and cloudy. The road to the park becomes one lane as you get closer to the staging area. When I was there parking was plentiful and I saw coyotes on the trail. I took the West Side Loop Trail for a short hike. For a longer hike, you can take the big loop called Brushy Peak Loop Trail.
