The house is physically located at 1000 Kuss Rd, Danville, CA 94526 although you cannot directly drive there. Bathrooms are avaliable at the shuttle stop (disguised as a rail car) and inside the visitor center located in the house.
Eugene O’Neil is a famous playwriter and Nobel prize winner. Throughout his life, he didn’t really have a permanent home and mainly stayed in hotel rooms. He stayed at this Danville location for about 6 years where he wrote numerous award winning plays. The Tao house was designed by his stylish third wife, Agnes, who carefully used Feng shui principles to plan the house. The surrounding area of the house has beautiful views of Mt Diablo and Las Trampas Regional Park.


Tours start at 10am, 2pm, will take around 2 hours. The bus will land near the bus stop cloeset to the street. There is free parking adjacent to the museum. There are around 12 spots per tour. Basically, the number of people that can fit in the shuttle bus. NPS offers guided tours weekdays and after the tour you get around 20-30 min to explore on your own. You’ll need to make reservations in advance on the park website here. There are also self guided tours at a first come first serve basis on the weekends.
