The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park is a redwoods tree state park in Santa Cruz county. It is named after the matriarch of the Marks family from Salinas who donated to the land to become a state park. There are many trails to explore here but I could only choose one: the Old Growth trail to see the Advocate Tree. This tree fell down in 2017 from a storm and was over 1,000 years old. This forest is still recovering from the devastation caused by the logging and railroad industry but as time goes by it is growing back.
